A distant flute, a resonant plucked instrument, the subtle movement of an organic piano. Then the atmosphere shifts: a dark sequence emerges, electronic pulses reshape the rhythm, and familiar musical colours become part of a more mysterious sonic landscape.

Around the World + Obscura Bundle for Waldorf Iridium, Iridium Core and Quantum brings these contrasting worlds together through 103 presets, combining the instrumental and cultural influences of Around the World with the evolving, cinematic electronic synthesis of Obscura.

The result is an unusually versatile palette for composers and sound designers who want to move freely between acoustic-inspired expression, atmospheric storytelling and contemporary electronic sound design.

Around the World – Instruments, Places and Musical Imagination

Around the World introduces 50 multi-layered presets inspired by a wide range of musical traditions and instrumental colours.

Its collection includes expressive flutes, resonant plucked instruments, guitars, organic pianos, frozen strings, atmospheric pads and percussive sequences. Sounds such as FL Duduk Duke, STR Indian Violin, PL Chinese Harp and PL Sitar Master explore distinctive instrumental characters, while PN Floating, PD Bali Sunset and ATM Entering the Cave extend the palette toward immersive ambient and cinematic environments.

The library combines these acoustic-inspired elements with Waldorf's synthesis capabilities, allowing familiar instrumental colours to develop into more unusual textures. Field recordings and approximately 100 MB of external samples contribute additional character and detail.

Most presets include assignments for velocity, modulation wheel, aftertouch and expression, giving musicians the opportunity to shape their phrasing and tonal response during performance.

From documentary soundtracks and world-influenced compositions to downtempo electronics and meditative music, Around the World offers a selection of sounds where instrumental expression and synthetic imagination coexist.

Obscura – Beyond the Familiar

If Around the World draws inspiration from recognizable instruments and musical environments, Obscura moves into less predictable territory.

Its 53 presets explore the darker, more abstract possibilities of Waldorf synthesis through evolving pads, cinematic drones, rhythmic sequences, atmospheric layers and constantly shifting electronic textures.

Sounds such as CRYOGENIC SKY, SUBSPACE BLOOM, MIDNIGHT ETHER and DARK PLANET suggest expansive environments and mysterious tonal landscapes. GRAVITY PULSE, NOVA SEQUENCE, PHASE RUNNER and ORBIT PULSE introduce rhythmic momentum, while the collection's more delicate textures provide contrast and space.

Inspired by ambient music, modern cinematic synthesis and the Berlin School tradition, Obscura makes modulation and movement central to its musical identity.

Its single, layered and split configurations include modulation wheel and aftertouch assignments, allowing musicians to control expressive changes in real time.

Obscura is particularly valuable when a composition requires tension, evolving atmospheres, unusual electronic motion or sounds that extend beyond conventional instrumental roles.

A Wider Language for Cinematic Composition

Together, the two libraries provide something more useful than a larger collection of unrelated presets: a way to connect organic musical expression with the atmosphere and movement of electronic synthesis.

A flute or plucked instrument from Around the World can establish the melodic identity of an arrangement, while Obscura contributes the underlying tension, rhythmic development or evolving electronic environment.

Organic piano textures can introduce warmth and intimacy before giving way to darker synthesizer layers.
