Oberheim OB-8 for Arturia MiniFreak V brings the unmistakable character of a legendary analog polyphonic synthesizer into a new creative environment, combining original hardware recordings with the sample-based synthesis capabilities of MiniFreak V 5.

Created by sound designer Nick Klimenko, the collection began with the opportunity to play and record an original Oberheim OB-8, capturing 242 samples from the instrument as the foundation for an entirely new sound library.

Those recordings became the starting material for 100 presets developed specifically for Arturia MiniFreak V, preserving the distinctive tonal character of the original synthesizer while exploring new possibilities through digital processing, modulation and granular synthesis.

This is what makes the collection different from a conventional vintage-inspired sound bank.

Rather than relying exclusively on oscillator programming to approximate classic analog timbres, the soundset incorporates material recorded directly from the original OB-8, bringing its harmonic richness and recognizable polyphonic character into the MiniFreak V synthesis environment.
