From Stage to Synths: The Sound Design Vision of Andrea Di Lorenzo
I’m Sabrina Schinaia, Digital Content Manager at SynthCloud, and today I’m pleased to introduce Andrea Di Lorenzo, musician, educator and sound programmer with extensive experience in synthesis, sound design and music technology.
Andrea has built his career by connecting different areas of the musical world: teaching, live performance, audio production and electronic music technology. He is a Music Education teacher, piano and theory instructor, choir conductor, keyboardist and sound designer, with more than 1500 concerts and over 80 studio recording sessions.
His work as a sound programmer focuses on creating expressive and performance-ready sounds for hardware and virtual synthesizers. Over the years, he has developed presets, patches and soundpacks for instruments by Korg, Roland, Yamaha, Sequential, Behringer, Moog, Modal Electronics and Arturia, exploring subtractive synthesis, wavetable synthesis, FM synthesis and advanced sound programming techniques.
Andrea’s approach combines technical precision with real musical experience. Every patch is designed to be useful, playable and inspiring, whether in the studio, on stage or during the creative process. His goal is not only to create sounds that impress at first listen, but also sounds that can become part of a real musical arrangement.
Alongside his work as a sound designer, Andrea is strongly involved in music education and digital training. He has created several editions of his Sound Synthesis Course for Beginners, helping musicians, producers and synth enthusiasts understand how synthesizers work and how sound can be shaped creatively.
He also shares educational content, tutorials and insights into synthesis and music technology through his YouTube channel, ADL-MusicLab where musicians and synth lovers can explore his approach to sound creation in a direct and practical way.
